Let’s talk bouquets
The bridal bouquet is your most important accessory, it complements your overall look on the special day, as well as most likely being one of the most photographed and seen floral arrangements. After your guests see your gorgeous smiling face, then the beautiful dress, they see the flowers – so you want it to be AMAZING.
When it comes to bouquets there are many options and choices, but you don’t need to feel overwhelmed – your trusty florist should be able to guide you down the right path!
Firstly, choosing the right size is essential to ensure it goes hand in hand with your wedding gown, body proportions, and overall wedding vibe.
Petite brides may be overwhelmed by large, cascading bouquets, and should consider smaller options, while taller brides may find smaller bouquets get lost in their figure, and can go for larger styles. Most sizes work well for those of us in the middle, including classic round shapes, and more organic hand tied arrangements, but it’s not all about the size!
Next you want to consider how your bouquet compliments your wedding dress. If your gown is heavily embellished or has intricate details, a simpler bouquet may be the best choice. On the other hand, if your dress is minimalistic, you can opt for a statement bouquet to add a touch of drama and elegance – this is why I always ask to see a pic of the dress in advance, with bonus point for the bride being in the dress – this gives me the best idea of how to tie all the elements together.
When it comes to your bouquet, we also consider the overall theme and location of your wedding. For a casual or outdoor wedding, smaller or handheld bouquets work well with a more organic, hand tied style, and perhaps some ribbons. For more formal weddings, larger and more elaborate bouquets, but perhaps more traditional in form can create a lux feel. We make sure your bouquet represents your personal style, and feels right to you, then you’ll never look back at pictures and wish you had chosen something else. Trends come and go, but choose something you truly love.
Lastly remember, you’ll be holding the bouquet at points throughout the day, so it’s essential to choose a size that’s comfortable for you to carry. A bouquet that’s too heavy or too large can become a burden and may alter your movements or posture during the ceremony and photoshoots. You want a bouquet that feels natural to carry and adds to your overall bridal look, but without stealing the whole show!
Bouquets can feel overwhelming, but a good florist will be able to recommend what will be best for you, and fit perfectly within the overall wedding, so make sure to choose someone you are comfortable with, and someone who takes the time to get to know you – then the perfect bouquet will come your way!
