Let’s talk all about Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2024…Peach Fuzz. I’m in love, and it’s great for wedding flowers!
Did you know Pantone has been running its Color of the Year programme for 25 years – I find it fascinating how one colour choice every year can really encapsulate a moment in time, speak to us all, and somehow capture a really good picture of society and our wants and desires for the year ahead.
According to Elatrice Eiseman, Executive Director for the Pantone Color Institute, “In seeking a hue that echoes our innate yearning for closeness and connection, we chose a color radiant with warmth and modern elegance. A shade that resonated with compassion, offers a tactile embrace, and effortlessly bridges the youthful with the timeless” (https://www.pantone.com/uk/en/color-of-the-year/2024)
I mean if that’s not what you want for your wedding day, and your wedding flowers I’m not sure what you could desire, or whether I’m the one to give it to you.
Closeness and connection, warmth and modern elegance, youthful yet timeless – that hits the nail on the head doesn’t it, and again highlights what I always say – colours, decor, flowers – they all matter.
They bring life, emotion, feelings, memories to your special day in a way that just can’t be replicated. Colours speak to people, colours make us feel a certain way and you need a professional to help you create the romance, magic, warmth and elegance you desire to create, enjoy and share with your friends and family.
Peach Fuzz sits perfectly between pink and orange, and even the name was tactfully chosen to ensure we embrace the tactile softness, the cosyness, of the colour – as well as the visual elements. I’m seeing beautifully soft peach blooms, surrounded by abundant greenery, or peach teamed with blue just like these gorgeous designs from last spring (I was ahead of the times you know!) It’s really a colour that can carry us through all the seasons, depending how it is used and what it is paired with in floral designs.
Obviously being a creative person, who works a lot with colour, I geek out on this stuff but what I really love is how much thought is behind showcasing the colour of the year. Laurie Pressman is quoted on House Beautiful as saying Peach Fuzz showcases “our want to be close to those we love and the joy we get when allowing ourselves to tune into who we are and savor that moment of quiet time” and a general feeling of reaching back to simpler times.
It’s such a touching, beautiful, purposeful and I think poignant sentiment that we could all take into 2024 to make our lives, our families, our businesses and hell even make the world a better place.
Nothing like an inspiration goal for February eh?!
Anyway if you love Peach Fuzz as much as me, drop me a message I’d love to chat about incorporating it into your special day. And if you don’t – you do you – remember it’s your day, your taste, your vibe – don’t let any big fancy colour company tell you what you should do!
